PRINCIPALS' LEADERSHIP CONCLAVE

DPS, Chas Bokaro in association with Quality Education Asia conducted Principals’ Leadership Conclave on 5thDec, 2017 with their mission - Leading an Outstanding Learning Community. It witnessed more than sixty principals and educators of ICSE and CBSE schools from all over Jharkhand. The programme was lead by resource persons Mr. Martin Matthews and Ms. Nadene Mackay from UK and Ms. Rupam Sah, CEO of Quality Education Asia.

In the inaugural address, Dr. Hemlata S. Mohan, President, Dr. Radhakrishnan Sahodaya School complex and Director and Principal of Delhi Public School, Bokaro, stated that all the principals have gathered together to imbibe the latest teaching strategies and take a step ahead in the excellence of education.She said the sprit lies in the concept of ‘Unlearning’ where we leave the strategies which are not fit or old enough to be continued with the present demand of school education. She also focussed on ‘Relearning’ where we practice the needed skills more and more along with ‘New learning’ to imbibe the latest ways to excel in the process of educational learning. Dr. Mohan stated that such conclaves are an opportunity to explore, unlearn, relearn with the view of paradigm shift in education and get to know that “yes, this is how we learn.”

The event was well-organized in three different sessions. The first session was headed by Mr. Martin Matthews and supported by Ms. Nadene Mackay and Mrs. Rupam Sah. The resource-expert Mr. Martin revealed the concept of ‘Defining Excellence’. He stated the importance of exploration of the international research and evidence into best practice with a special focus on the work of John Hattie and Visible Learning. He made the participants understand the characteristics of effective, reflective teachers and leaders with a rigorous inquiry into ‘Who you are’ and ‘How you are’

The second session witnessed Ms. Nadene Mackay elaborating on the idea of ‘Measuring Excellence’. The Principals as well as educators were made to understand how to undertake meaningful school evaluation by different techniques.

In the final session, Ms. Rupam Sah, emphasized on the concept of ‘Developing Excellence’. It highlighted the required strategies and guidance to create a powerful, visible learning environment for all. All the three sessions were carried out with innovative activities.

A Structured International curriculum for Play school / Pre-school / Preparatory was launched by Mr. Martin Matthews which will benefit a well-balanced education right from the grass root level. This curriculum is aimed at training teachers and preparing them for the 21st century education system. It received a commendable response from different schools and more than 100 teachers have registered to adapt themselves to the new methodologies of teaching-learning. The registrations for the second batch are in progress.

The programme concluded with felicitation of the delegates. The participating Principals were highly delighted to have witnessed such a great educational event. They were obliged with the warm hospitality received and appreciated the well-equipped infrastructure of the School. The principals and educators were found highly enthusiastic to carry the spirit of achieving excellence and readiness to keep on learning in the process of education.
